There was plenty of offensive firepower on display over the weekend in college hockey, but it's a goalie who leads the way in this edition of Stars of the Week.
1.) Matthew Galajda, Cornell
Galajda hasn't allowed a goal in over 150 minutes of game time.
The freshman netminder increased his shutout streak to 158:15 after keeping both ECAC Hockey opponents off the scoreboard. On Friday, he made 34 saves in a scoreless tie against No. 7 Clarkson, marking the first time all season the Golden Knights have been held scoreless. On Saturday, the Aurora, Ontario native stopped all 16 shots as the Big Red beat St. Lawrence, 1-0. He now leads the nation in goals-against average (1.47) and shutouts (8) and is third in save percentage (.941).
2.) Tyler Sheehy, Minnesota
Sheehy has 12 goals and 11 assists for Minnesota this season.
The Golden Gopher captain helped lead Minnesota to a sweep of Wisconsin in Big Ten action. The junior forward scored two goals, including the game-winner in a 4-2 victory over the Badgers on Friday. The Burnsville, Minn. native followed that up with a goal and two assists in a 7-1 win against Wisconsin in Madison on Saturday. For the weekend, he totaled five points on three goals and two assists in addition to six shots on goal and a +4 rating. On the season he has 23 points on 12 goals and 11 assists.
3.) Will Graber, Dartmouth
Graber picked up a hat trick and a pair of assists vs. Rensselaer.
The Longmont, Colorado native had a big weekend offensively for the Big Green in a split of ECAC Hockey competition. In Friday’s 7-3 victory over Rensselaer, the sophomore forward had five points, which included a hat trick. In Saturday’s 2-1 loss to Union, he had an assist on Dartmouth’s only goal. He finished the weekend with six points on three goals and three assists to go along with 12 shots on goal and a +5 rating. He now has 18 points on eight goals and 10 assists on the season.
